Snow sculptures, fun activities make McCall Winter Carnival a must-see event.

Picture a 10-foot bust of Capt. Meriwether Lewis, or larger-than-life-sized dolphins leaping from the water or a giant Lion King – these are just a tiny sampling of the ice and snow sculpture entries in the McCall Winter Carnival, held in the last week of January and the first week of February every year.

The Winter Carnival celebrated its 40th anniversary last year, revealing the city of McCall's true passion for carrying on a tradition that promises to entertain everyone who takes part, and gives locals an excuse to escape cabin fever and get creative on a big snowy canvas.

Checking out the snow sculptures in downtown McCall is just one of many fun and cool things to do during the Winter Carnival. snowballfight There is the hairy legs contest for men and the sexy legs contest for women, the torchlight ski parade at the Little Ski Hill, dog sledding, the Mardi Gras Parade, Casino night and more.
